There’s a huge shift happening in the marketing industry.

Big brands are shifting the way they do advertising in 2023.

It's all because of the new creator economy that has been blowing up lately (especially in the news).

And if you learn how this new system will work, you have the potential to make a lot of money for your own business.

Creators have always been around since the birth of the internet.

But what’s different now is that brands no longer want to rely on Facebook ads or paid ads (for a lot of reasons and that’s why I may have to write a part 2 of this).

They also don’t want to spend on television and radio ads.

So what are they switching to?

They are actually focused on spending their budget on small creators who have a niche audience.

And I’m not talking about Instagram influencers with big followings. I’m talking about people with less than 2,000 followers getting paid from brands.

Creators who are:

  • Podcast hosts
  • Email newsletter writers
  • Youtubers
  • Who have a small, engaged social media following

They are going to be the recipients of this new advertising money that’s shifting away from traditional methods. It's actually predicted to hit half-a-trillion dollars by 2027 according to a recent article by Goldman Sachs.

So what does this have to do with you?

Well first of all, if you are doing social media or marketing services for businesses, there’s another way you can help your clients reach new customers by understand the creator economy.

And if you want to be a creator yourself, there are so many different ways to monetize your passions, hobbies and interests.

Creators are making a full time income creating content about topics they love.

And these creators come from diverse demographics:

  • Retired seniors making tutorials on gardening and getting brand sponsorship deals.
  • Stay at home Moms sharing tips about homeschooling or budgeting for the family.
  • Video game streamers.
  • Car and automotive enthusiasts.
  • And thousands of other niche topics.​

It’s no longer about Instagram influencers like the Kardashians or girls only talking about beauty and fashion who are getting the brand deals.

It’s regular people with niche hobbies and interests who these big companies are spending money on. (And who plan to spend more money on within the next 4 years).

One of the things they are doing is spending money on newsletters.

Email newsletters are a simple way to monetize especially if you like writing.

And brands are paying top dollar for niched newsletters.
